Dr Michael McCormack
 B.V.Sc. (Hons)
Michael McCormack

We welcomed Michael to Bungendore in December 2007 upon his return to Australia after working in mixed animal practices in the UK. Michael had grown up in Canberra and most of his family are still here. He graduated from Sydney University in 2005 as top male graduate, winning the prestigious Albert Victor Harris Spears Bequeath Award, so we are very lucky to have him here with us at BVS. He has a special interest in small animal and cattle surgery.

Michael and his partner are hoping to build a home in the area soon. He enjoys jogging with his dog "Hogie" (whom Michael adopted in the UK and bought back to Australia), cooking, camping and diving.

Dr Rosemary Laing
 B.V.Sc. (Hons), M.V. Stud. (Path)
Rosemary Laing

Rosemary graduated from the University of Sydney in 1987, then worked in dairy & mixed practice in Orbost, Victoria, before working in England, Camden (Sydney University) & Victoria.  Following this period in practice Rosemary returned to Sydney University to complete a Masters in Veterinary Clinical Pathology, and then worked at Randwick, and the Regional Veterinary Laboratory at Menangle.  At Bungendore Rosemary's pathology degree has proved very useful in assisting in diagnosis of many diseases often providing these services in a more timely manner than other practices which outsource such services.

These days Rosemary spends most of her time on the administrative side of the practice, although she still supervises and helps out with our in-house lab when required.

Dr Stacy Gwyther
 B.V.Sc. (Hons)
Stacy Gwyther

Stacy grew up locally on her parent’s small but elite Jersey cattle stud in Wamboin where she developed her love of cattle (especially Jerseys!). She has had a long association with BVS completing her Year 10 work experience with us a number of years ago.

After graduating from the University of Sydney in 2006 she went to work in Wagga Wagga in a large mixed animal practice. Four years later Stacy and her husband finally decided it was time to move back closer to home and we welcomed her here at BVS in January 2011. There has been some speculation that she waited until the new clinic opened before returning home, but these allegations only hold some truth! Stacy is looking forward to continuing her work with cattle, dogs, sheep, alpacas, llamas, horses, cats, birds.......

Stacy has always loved playing team sports especially netball and basketball, competing for many years at representative level. She still loves to keep fit and can be seen regularly at early morning gym sessions, putting the rest of us to shame.

Dr Helena Reeves
 B.V.Sc.
Helena Reeves

Helena grew up on a cattle and sheep property on the North Island of New Zealand. In between school and university studies she enjoyed being involved with production animal farming, as well as competing on and breeding her own show jumpers and endurance horses. While at University she also worked on thoroughbred studs throughout New Zealand and Australia, handling and preparing yearlings for sales. In addition she also worked as a vet’s assistant at equine hospitals in New Zealand, as well as spending a month in Dubai at Sheikh Mohammed's equine hospital just before graduation.

In 2009 Helena graduated from Massey University moving to Australia in early 2010 to join a practice in the Queensland outback. She came to BVS in August 2010 and although she misses her family (and pet rabbit, Mr Bunny!), back home in NZ, she is enjoying her time in Australia. She loves working in a mixed practice, whilst having a particular interest in equine medicine particularly lameness, dentistry and reproduction.

Helena loves sport, in particular the All Blacks, playing hockey, horse riding and tapestry.

Jill Elderton

Jill was born in the Uk and moved to Australia with her new Australian husband in 2000. Jill has always been an animal lover having looked after 3 rescue dogs, an RSPCA cat, a yabbie, a galah and numerous wildlife rescue cases as a previous member of Wildcare. Trapa

Trapa

Trapa came to our clinic as a stray in early 2004 with a nasty injury to his left front leg (caused by a rabbit trap). Due to his fantastic temperament, the decision was made to amputate the leg and keep him as our clinic cat. Trapa spends most of his time eating and sleeping and enjoys daily visits to the feed shed across at Bungendore Rural "looking for mice" (getting fed again). He loves overseeing veterinary procedures, in particular horse work and also keeping an eye on the day to day running of the practice from his favourite vantage point, the front counter. Trapa thoroughly enjoys antagonising large dogs and has a special interest in extracting the greatest amount of sympathy from clients possible.
